I could see a PTO for Richards. At this point he is a gamble but he is 31 and he could come back. Stranger things have happened. LA tried him for a while but he hasn't had a ton of quality ice time in a few years. When LA did try him, he did get time on the wing and can play there if needed. A position Draisaitl will most likely find himself playing this season for the Oilers PP. I don't think the Oilers need him at any Cap hit while their D is still a joke but he could pay off.

I have difficulty with the idea of Richards coming to Edmonton.

McDavid is smart, he has strong character and an intense desire to compete and win. I would not bring anyone onto the Oiler roster that does not contribute to the character factor and the desire to win.

I just don't want to believe the Oilers would take this risk with their dressing room and young team leadership. You need to ask yourself two questions. How high is the potential upside for the Oilers if this signing works out positively? What is the downside if it does not work out? Clearly, this is a very high risk option that only offers the potential for a marginal return at best and disaster at worst..

Richards certainly isn't optimal but if his being here means Puljujarvi actually gets significant AHL time then I would strongly consider it.

Don't think it happens. Richards can find other opportunities that will be better. Yak will not be dealt before the season. Pul probably ends up on the team. Reinhart and Lander will both be in the AHL
Word is Fayne has worked hard this summer. This D needs both him and Klef to have big seasons.otherwise we are poop again.

I'll forever remember Richards and his contributions to the Kings in helping them win two Cups, but the guy just isn't an NHL player anymore. I haven't watched much of Letestu, but I can't imagine he's worse than Richards.

Any ideas of putting Leon at wing and playing him or letestu at 3c ain't wise
